My film group and I have announced our next video, "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", An exact word for word movie interpretation of the most popular horror folklore collection ever. I created a quick poster to show everyone whats going on. Anyone who is anyone remembers the countless nights as children hiding under the covers with only the disturbing visuals of Stephen Gammell's illustrations. Its going to be black and white just as the drawings and a couple twists. What do you guys think?

Nice poster. And think that sounds awsome.

It sounds neat, but why black and white? I think you will lose some audience with it being black and white. If it were super stylized like sin city then that might make it work.

Black & White movies "worked" because most people do not dream in "Color".
So, a black & White drawing or movie hooks in better to the dreamworld and becomes terrifically scary!
If Ted Turner wants to colorize my dreams (reaching inside my brain?) I just might let him try it , when I'm 98 and bored.
(Of course I could be wrong about this since my long-term study money never came through and my research team all quit years ago!)

Well when I said "Black and White" it will be done in a very styalized manor almost exactly like sin city accept much more grain and dirt. The only color that will be present is red which will be blood. Im trying to recreate the effect of Stephen Gammell's illustrations into the actual production. Its going to be awesome. The black and white will remind readers of the countless nightmares they had from gazing at the illustrations. It's going to add more of a nightmarish feel to them.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS !!!!!! all the monsters who tortured me in my childhood nightmares when I was a kid were in black and white..... mine came from behind a curtain where a closet was.. no door. work with that. then, running down the steps from our 2nd floor where our bedrooms were because I thought someone was chasing me was another one.....(day or night I still ran !) 14 steps. ah, childhood memories! what an imagination !!!!! never had anything from under the bed..... kinda odd I guess.... can't wait to see the finish product !!!!!

You have to have it in black and white because that's the way the books were. It should have a classic look to it and the blood should be black. I'm looking forward to it for sure.
