i really like the black and white better than the red.

Neither one can you read what it is...It took me a minute to realize that the tree is supposed to be a "T". If I had this problem I KNOW your customers will too and they won't take the time to figure it out!

I LOVE the concept though...I think you should give another go, clear up the letters a bit...maybe not have them be objects but still work them into the artwork. Then, it'd be perfect if rendered in 3D and not a flat line drawing.

Looks good though, kudos to the artist. -Tyler

I think it has too much going on. Clean, simple and bold always looks better in my opinion. Also think about how it looks for branding, logos on shirts and coupons etc. It should be legible and recognizable.

Very hard to read either.

They are both super cool... but really hard to read.
The haunt name should be very clear block letters. Get creative around that.

i like it! Top one is easiest to read.
Maybe change the branch on the t to come down to look more like a t. otherwise it
looks really good.

I think they both look pretty good. And I like the red one the best.
I agree with Damon though, maybe you should bring the limb with
the buzzard on it down a bit more and lengthen it a little to.
It will look more like a T then.

yeah what damon said.... i like the first one better and i can read it fine. would look great on a websght, shirt ,poster or flyers. i probably wouldnt use it as a haunt sign for passer by's on the hwy tho, because they cant read it at a glimpse driving 55

Never let any type-setter put your haunt name in Gothic letters! Unreadable mostly!
Your logo is art. Art has to be somewhat encoded, adding some mystery and the fun of the audience's fun of discovery when they figure it out!
But..."art" versus "Functionality" can be mutually exclusive and will not be traded within those two seperate spheres often times.
The art of the logo might be great on a shirt but not a sign along the road.( Been there, done that)

B is a more interesting artwork due to the range of elements in the word 'Twisted', great illustration, not so much graphic design.

They'd both make great additions to the marketing presence of the haunt but I'm not sure either would qualify for the label 'logo'.

Dark,
Honesty and tactfulness are not bitter enemies who cannot coexist. I think all the replies are honest and tactful.
I like the logo, but It will give an impression of your show quality and may slightly limit your audience. At the same time I dont think thats a bad thing. Make sure you know what you are trying to say about your show and make sure your logo says it. Im going to talk about logos a bit at my MHC class on haunt design.
I popped your logo in photoshop and made some of the suggested alterations, I also upped the contrast so that the letters pop a bit more.

Dark this isnt the only logo Shawn has for Twisted Woods. This is just another very creative piece of artwork. I have seen drawings of the Evil Dead films that remind me of this. Its probably why I like this. Why wouldnt we be honest?! That doesnt even make sense. Not everyone is like you with all your negative comments. Again this would be a great for a tshirt or coupon or even a flyer. Not as a billboard or main logo. Which it is not.

If you look at corporate logos yours is far to detailed and complex.

I like it. I'm a texture eye candy kinda girl, so all of the intricate details of it appeal to me. Whether it translates well to a logo, I dunno, but as art, it's awesome. :)

There is way too much going on with the logo. It needs to be a clean, memorable design that you could easily create t-shirts and other apparel with. It's also hard to read and the only people who won't have a problem are those who already know about the haunt. Like Dark said, it looks like it's straight out of the 70s or 80s and makes your haunt look unprofessional. It's a cool design, but won't do anything for marketing your haunt. My suggestion is to start over and create something that looks more corporate instead of a comic book style logo. You can be creative, but not to the point where it's not legible.

Thanks Noah!

Here is something to consider. Look at the list of Hauntworld's top 13 haunts from last year. Pretty much every logo is very well done. Look at what the best haunts do and compare to this logo. I rest my case.

Shawn I hope you know I'm trying to be helpful not negative.

Look at movie fonts, logos and such. This is a business even though it's a haunt you're in it to make money or so I would gather.

Look at the hauntworld site logo it's cool, clean and edgy.

Dark I have my own haunted house and my own haunt vending business. I dont need to follow anyone. I give credit where credit is due. Larry has an amazing haunt hands down! This has nothing to do with Larry or Jim. For your information I consider both good friends of mine. Larry has done many nice things for me over the years Ive known him and attended his haunt. Jim is a great guy and also has done many nice things for me. What have you ever contributed on this board but giving maybe Shane alot of hell and others. I didnt say use this for your main haunt logo. Maybe you missed it when I said he has another logo. Shawn is merely looking for suggestions. He probably will have it cleaned up to read better. He has an artist that works for major record labels and I think
Disney. If I remember right. So you really dont know what your talking about this isnt just some joe shmoe off the streets he has creating this for him. Far as your opinion it doesnt matter to a hill of beans to me. When you grow up and want to be big boy and show us something creative you can do on here let me and everyone else know. Okay!

Yes I do have another logo but I do agree with everyone about it would not be a good billboard but I do think it will look cool on a flyer and T-shirts yes maybe the title of logo help may have miss led some of you. I appreciate everyone's input but DA you are a downer to almost every thread i have seen you on. So if one person calls you a duck then do not worry about it, when 2 people call you a duck you might want to take a look at yourself but if most of the people call you a duck you might want to waddle you way down to the pond.

One again thank you for everyone's input

Do you think that original art work should be called clip art from the 70's or was that just you being yourself again? You have very little concern about being attacked I honestly think that is the only reason you are on this Forum in the first place so in the future, If it takes you to keep a thread going PLEASE let it die. I do appreciate the way everyone else has there input but you always try and start something by saying something like mentioned.

Once again thank you to everyone ( beside DA)

BUT! in marketing and advertising at the end of the day it really doesn't matter what you think, it is what your customers perceive it to be.
To be brutally honest (which I'm sure you'll respect) the logo design is very creative but looks like a 14 year old did it in and art class after smoking some good weed.

Shawn... I like it. It needs some tweaks, but I like it... Perhaps work on doing like Allen said... make it stand out more... There are plenty of us on this site that can help you out in aesthetically altering it slightly to really "Pop"

P.S., I am so used to DA being ignorant instead of helpful that I just ignore him. In time you will also learn to do the same.

Take care, and if you need any help, feel free to PM me.

The original design rocks! I would love to have it on a shirt. I believe it should be treated as artwork that is what it is. Awesome T shirt design place the web address below it. That being said if it was to be used in any situation that wood require it to be read from any real distance I would suggest a striped down version with less detail to make the letters clearer. Hope you like what I tried to do real quick for ya.http://hauntforum.com/picture.php?albumid=321&pictureid=10814

The only changes to the top one I would change maybe is. Make the tree which is the letter t taller and make the branch on the right come down. Because the buzzard looks too good perched up there to lower. And instead of the stump which is the i on twisted. Maybe make it a zombie hand coming out of the ground? Or maybe switch it with the noose on the bottom image with it hanging over a shorter stump. I like the noose hanging down looks cool! Again I think it looks awesome!

Neither ... To much going on. The individual items are cool but the composition is bad.. It is also not balanced correctly. I think u are very creative and talented but in LOGOs less is more. Think symbol that is easily communicated . You have less then a second to communicate your branding. Your branding will be extremely valuable down the road...take your time and put it out there. At the end of the day it is not how you feel about it... It is have you communicated your message to the target goal effeciantly? .... Sorry 17 years as a high school art teacher(retired) makes you ramble.

Well just for your info the artist is a teacher at one of the top art collages in the country and he is older than 14. He does work for Disney, Universal, Hard Rock, Ron John surf shop, and Margaritaville just to name a few. I think he might know a little about art.

Thank you for everyone how can give constructive criticism.

As I said before you don't see such a complex logo in any corporate signage. they probably are the experts on the topic too. Even the prop companies keep it simple, even other haunts. You have about 10 seconds to grab their attention before it moves on to something else.

I would be more than willing to help you out man, free of charge. I work as a designer for my alternate (non Rotting Flesh Radio) job. I think your art is awesome. It does need to be read faster and a bit more clean. I think it can totally happen.
