Having worked in Haunts since I was a kid I cannot ask that question. If that was the standard I held then I would never be able to enjoy haunts like I do. I go into a haunt with the attitude of how good is this show. If they do manage to surprise me and I get a fright that is just a bonus. My determining factors are how good are the actors do they stay in character were they on their marks, How does the haunt look is the decor done well was their time taken to make each scene believable.
If pneumatics are in the show how are they used? are they being relied on to heavy are they diversion tactics are they just tossed in for fun? Since I tend to be a repeat customer year after year haunts also get bonus points for improving.

During the MHC pre-show tour, I saw several grizzled veterans of the haunt industry jump and get startled at more than one haunt. I know of at least one person that was genuinely terrified at the haunt in Kokomo.
