While I was at Rocky Point I noticed that some of the doors had large rubber bolts in them (actually just a facade glued on, they looked very real), she metioned that she bought them somewhere but I cannot remember where. Does anyone know where to get fake nuts and bolts?

Dont know if they sell but CIFX used their own for the Haunted Vineyard. You may want to write to them about casting en masse for you....

Push a real bolt into soft clay, pull it out, pour in latex, allow to dry, pick away clay, there's your bolt.
In medieval times a blacksmith made hundreds of bolt heads for a cathedral door with identicle little faces on them(steel not latex)
The Pope wanted the Blacksmith to tell him how he could possibly have made there all identicle?
The Blacksmith would not give away this trade secret.
The Pope said, "If you don't tell me, we will declare you of "satan's influence and have you put to death!"
"If I break the trade guild's rules and tell you, the guild will then put me to death."
He died.
No happy ending.

It kind of reminds me of the Steve Martin Sat. Night Live caveman skit.
Steve is the "Smart" caveman, shows the rest of them how to do everything. After he falls asleep another caveman drops a huge rock on Steve's head (not really) and says, "He smart, he too smart."

I'VE TRIED THE CLAYLATEX IDEA AND IT WORKS PRETTY GOOD. GIVE IT A TRY!

Greg:
I think the "make-them-yourself" method may be the most economical,
but if you just want off the shelf items, visit:

I know some folks have bought nylon bolts from Grainger or Master-Carr and cut the threads off. It is $10 for a package of 100 bolts on average.
The drawback is that they don't take paint very well.

Best of luck!

We used to sell the darn things and only a few people wanted them

1 inch or 2 inch bolt heads made of resin
Painted or unpainted
Just paint and silicone on the project...

I will be at the shop Saturday morning

Will look to see what molds i can find
