This season we are hiring a person to make phone calls to large
companies to sell our group rate tickets in blocks of 100 or more. The
discount is $4.00 off our walk up price for a total of $16.00 per
ticket. I'm paying this sales person a commission of $1.00 per ticket
sold.

All of our tickets are timed tickets this season, however selling to a
company to use as employee incentives brings up the issue of not all
coming the same night. To over come this issue we have a special line
called "Group Sales", this line will be for any tickets we have sold to
a group.

The group rate the tickets must be purchased in advance and starting at
a 20 or more tickets by phone or online. Unless our sales person calls
them direct there is a $2.00 service fee per ticket.

Something to think about that could be a great sales tool.

What kind of company do you hire for such sales? is it a marketing company? Where do you get the list of names for the large company?

We've tried the same thing in the past... it really depends on who you hire.
Group sales is a tricky thing... The way to sell group sales is to KNOW the right people, like any profession its who you know not what you know.

Every company has a human resource center and they would handle events like this... but the sooner you start calling them the better. They plan events like this way in advance.

You can go online and purchases lists and stuff but whatever you DO, DO NOT fax anyone anything you can now be sued. Just mail people stuff, and I would mail them a flyer, order form and maybe even one comp ticket.

Also do not underestimate the power of your web site.
Have a Group Tickets section or the availability to email for info.


People are on the web site and see that they an get a discount if they get a few people from work together!

Also contact companies with 100+ employees. Chances are they have some sort of Employee Association that you can offer discounts through.

Be very polite in your seeking out of customers via any "list". Some of the names will be people who may have been dead for several years and unhappiness can be stirred up when this information is out of date.
Ignorant and rude callers will not help anyone's efforts.
My Mother got two calls within a few minutes of each other for my Father yesterday from some sales outfit. He passed away last October.
My Grandmother got callers asking for her husband ten years after he had died.
