Barry thanks for returning, this place needs you!

Thanks. :)

I do find this very interesting and I actually predicted it a few weeks ago. With all of the rumours that have been flying around about TW, some substantiated and others not, this was the best option for them. They already had the dates in Vegas and it is the path of least resistance.

Saw that coming a MILE AWAY!

They already put a deposit down for the convention center in Vegas while the show was there...............................

Transworld tried to get their show to work in Chicago but there was nothing they could do...major vendors like Rubies told them if they went back to Vegas they would show. Rubies will show at Transworld 2009 just in case you were wondering.

Transworld had a deposit on this space for this coming year but changed it to accommodate the retailers wanting an earlier show but in the end they agreed to do Transworlds show if they left it in March. It will now be the late buying show for the retail industry.

Even with all this news on the TW front, most vendors are not excited about this concept because drayage fees and costs to attend this show are too much for this industry.

I think what we might be on the verge of is a haunt only show, that grows into a bigger amusement show. All in all this is good news for Transworld and I hope their show continues well into the future!

Wow!!! Back in Vegas eh. Well if I'm able to get off work and go next year. I'll definitely be flying. No 32 hour driving road trip.

LOL, what a messed up company. 1st Chicago, then no, then Yep its in Chicago, now nope, its Vegas. hauntshow.com says Vegas but for the haunted attraction side it says more info coming. Shaking head in wonder.... and I thought my company was screwed up.....

Dirk,

I think you have to understand what happened. I told all you guys weeks ago that I doubt it will go back to Chicago so I would put off planning haunt tours in Chicago. They had a deposit on the Vegas space from the get go...the reason they changed it was to protect their business.

The Rubies of the world wanted a January show so in order to protect their interest they said 'okay fine we'll do one'.... but in the end the Rubies and those people decided the would not attend a Transworld produced January show, and they got alot of other vendors to go along with them.

So Transworld had no choice but to go back to PLAN A, which was Vegas all along. At this point the best TW can hope for is the January show is very lightly attended and the buyers do more buying at their show, which will end the Houston flirtation. However I think in the long run that isn't the Rubies plan, they want the one show, and will be aggressive to promote ONLY Houston, and try to ween off Transworld all together.

I don't know that for a fact but I think that is the plan. Rubies has told Transworld if you do your show in Vegas as planned they will attend just not with the same amount of booths...so Rubies and everyone else will probably be at the Transworld show in Vegas 2009, just maybe not as many booths as before but probably something very close.

I don't think you'll see a major difference in size at Transworld 2009.

The issue now though is our vendor doesn't want Vegas because we can't afford those costs. We need a haunt only show. As for as Transworld moving the dates back they really had no choice, it was move it back or have no show. They choose the correct path, go back to the original plan and stay with Vegas. I think it will work out for them especially if they keep the show in Vegas believe it or not...because then its more of a West Coast show which will probably keep the Rubies of the world coming back for years. I think at this point you might see the Transworld show stay in Vegas for good...but I'm not positive.

I think that is exactly what will happen! We'll see...

Well yes the Union costs are a little high to say the least but FOR ME it works out because i can drive to the show in VEGAS. Paying for shiping and union does suck! But i only have to deal with the UNIONS.

I also really enjoyed the VENDORS and PATRONS. I met so many genuinly nice people!
I would love to do it again!

IM IN!!

I'm more than a little disappointed to hear the show is back in vegas. I really didn't enjoy myself this year and there were way way too many distractions. I don't know about anyone else but sales wise it wasn't my best show but I couldn't complain either. Oh well I guess I better start saving up for the costs to go back to vegas again.

In Mexico city you'd spend less for unions but more on bottled water!

Or maybe "Bottled Unions"?
" You the head of this union?
Here's a little something in this envelope for you, keep the lid on it."
Unlike wine keeping the union members bottled up for too long doesnot make for an improved beverage.

Being in both the tradeshow industry AND the haunt industry, personally I'd like to see T.W. come to New Orleans. The labor rate is substatially lower than Vegas, the climates perfect, the location is pretty central so shipping costs are pretty equal for all exhibitors, (with the rising fuel costs, shipping across town is still painful no matter where you're at) and there are PLENTY of after show activities that are of interest to this particular group of attendees & exhibitors alike. Any suggestions on who to contact to make something like TransWorld 2010 New Orleans happen?

I could begin building my raft right now for the New Orleans trip. The creek out my back door dumps into the Miss. river ten miles away and there I go!
Paddling back upstream would be the problem.

INTERESTING. I for one probley WILL go back to vegas, but I will be spending more time seeing vegas then walking around the transworld exibit floor.

Sounds like Vegas has one hooked! "Look at all them light bulbs! All in one place!"
You just broke little Transworld's heart by saying that.
A merely 25 year old trade show from Chicago doesn't know many people in Vegas yet, except for her pimp!
Life can be tough out there!
Maybe next year she will be ready and you two could hook up and you could bring her back home to Wisconsin?

IF I do go back, I will fly in the day before, see everything Fri-Sunday and fly out Monday. I will also make sure to leave my nights open for some shows seeing how there is no CROWNE to hang at......

I doubt I’ll go back next year. I got my taste of Vegas this year and that’s enough for me for quite a while. The Amazing Johnathan was great, but I’m still recovering from the cost of high-priced meals and cab rides. I’ll be going to MHC this year and that’s probably where I’ll continue to go if Transworld doesn’t return to the Midwest. I agree. Without the "Crowne Experience", it just isn't the same.

I do firmly believe that Transworld may just have saved its Halloween show. It would not have survived the dates and location it had planned and they know it. The few people moaning about it leaving Chicago are the ones that drive there and would have been very much alone in January. I love how people continue to say Vegas has too many distractions for the show. Since when has too many choices for entertainment been a bad thing. What's bad is when you go to Chicago and there is not a damn thing to do but sit in your hotel's bar because there is nothing to do within 30 miles.

We went to the show and did what we went to do. We made purchases and were on the show floor 3 days solid and did not leave until we were done. Not only that we saw several Vegas shows and stayed a little longer to enjoy the city.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I love Vegas. Had a great time and looking forward to going back. Chicago in January, I think I may have had to think hard about that one, but probably still would have gone, not at all disappointed in the move.

The common theme, whether you liked Vegas or not, is there's no Crowne! Come on folks this is a problem we can solve! Let's pick a casino/bar name it the Vegas Crowne, and promote it all year till Transworld. If people know all year where the central gathering place is, they'll be there.

So let's have some suggestions! Where is the Vegas Crowne?

I mean it was not the money yeah it was kinda high but myself I can afford it. But is it me or is it just not the same? I mean it just felt different and the floor always seemed dead. I will go back but this time I will look for fun things to do to keep it intersting for me. Shane Graystone

From the bars I visited in Vegas, the main problem is they are just SO frickin crowded. TRy to get 200 haunters in there on top of the "normal" people is darn near impossible........

The few people moaning about it leaving Chicago are the ones that drive there and would have been very much alone in January.

The majority of Haunted Attractions and Haunt Vendors are in the Midwest and the East Coast. The few? LOL. No, whether TW is in Chicago or not isn’t the issue. They need to have the show closer to Industry vendors and their customers. That way the vendors won’t have to ship their products all the way across the country, as well as pay over-inflated prices for booths and ridiculous union fees that nickel and dime them to death.

I love how people continue to say Vegas has too many distractions for the show. Since when has too many choices for entertainment been a bad thing. What's bad is when you go to Chicago and there is not a damn thing to do but sit in your hotel's bar because there is nothing to do within 30 miles.

Actually, I’ve been told by MANY vendors that the lack of other activities in Chicago has worked in their favor. Since people don’t have much to do in Chicago, vendors congregate at the Crowne. As a result, they’ve made valuable connections and done more business than ever before. Have you ever heard of businessmen doing business on the golf course? The same thing applies for the “Crowne” in Chicago. In Vegas, there were so many activities/distractions that such gatherings were just not possible.

Prior to the last Transworld Vegas show, people tried to decide on the same thing on this message board, but there were just too many activities available in Vegas and it never happened, because everyone just went their own way. Besides, as xxxdirk said, with the clientele they already have, most Vegas bars are already too crowded, without Haunter attendance. Good luck finding a “Crowne” in Vegas. LOL

Well this might sound bad. But it does give me another chance to go visit my relatives. LOL! Dont get me wrong I love them and they are great. I wouldnt have to worry about food or lodging. Just airfare and money to blow on props and maybe a little of the other things Vegas has to offer. Gambling that is. Im not a big gambler.

Now I’m just pointing out a few observations, I have NO information confirming or denying anything but….
No one has said that the HAUNT Show is moving to Vegas, just that the HALLOWEEN and PARTY Show is moving to Vegas!
Remember TW broke us off the main show.

Go to the web site:http://www.tweshows.com/default.aspx
It lists the 25th Annual HCP Show being on Vegas March 6-9 2008.
The 14th Annual National Haunt and Attractions Show?.... “INFORMATION COMING SOON”.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I was sent an email request to take a Trade Show Survey. It was put on by a marketing research company.
They asked things like what show have you attended? What time of year do you prefer? What locations would you attend?

Just who commissioned the survey or why was not addressed. But it makes you wonder…..
Someone wants feedback on the convention experience… TW has NOT announced a location for HAUNT Show in 2009…
I wouldn’t start booking air fare just yet!!!

It seems the TW saga continues!!! Our own "Haunt Soap Opera"
IN A DEEP ANNOUNCER VOICE: (brought to you by "Hauntworld!" the world's largest Haunt related site! Is your Haunt listed?
Go to http://www.hauntedhouseonline.com/haunted_house_directory.cfm TODAY !!!) I bet Hanfadomous' brain is reeling from overloaded psychic messages!!!!!

I guess I can be happy about cutting off a few hours on my flight, a two hour flight to a new "haunt show" as opposed to a 5 hour flight to the old one....Vegas is just so 2007.

So no one knows anyting about this yet? Larry?

How about the vendors who were contacted? Did they tell you anything about the haunt show?

Seems as a way to make the halloween and party people happy, maybe Transworld finally thinks the way to do it is make two separate shows, separate dates, separate locations possibly.

Anyone? Anyone?

If they do two separate shows, I would hope that there would be alot of crossover vendors. We do a lot of orders from the costume/makeup/prop vendors that are in the HCP section, and I would really hate to have to go to two tradeshows to get all my ordering done.

Well lets hope we get an anouncement soon. I am going no matter where it is as long as there will be vendors to buy from whether it is back in Vegas, Chicago, or somewhere entirely new. I just would like to know soon.
