I guess now is as good a time as any to ask who's going to TW and where the best deals can be found for lodging with transportation provided to and from the convention. Any suggestions??? We're hoping that 4 of us will be able to make it, but, at worse case scenario, I'll be coming alone again like I did in 2005. Awww poor Kelly! Just kidding! I have fun whether I come alone or not. Besides, I get to hang out with my HW Sisters and Brothers! :D

But what about the Transworlders who aren't "Heavy Weights"?

Xeverity
11-13-2006, 04:19 AM
I am seriously thinking about going. I will be in the 'light weight' category.

Obesity levels are rising in Britian especially in the north now that fast-food and convience foods have arrived. How much do you need to wiegh to be classified as heavy weight?

My main concern is the cold! I usually head south in winter. I don't even have a winter coat. However my plan is to stay within the safety of the convention centre for the entire duration except on escorted pre-arranged outings.

Me and my evil minions will be there once again, This year we are going to take advantage of the Incubator alley offer, and set up as a first year vendor........ also trying to work out something and do a FX demo as well.... Look us up, stop by and say Hi! Bodybag Entertainment

What do they charge for the nurses ?
Are they the ones wearing the Playboy costumes?
Talk about a way to get newbies some attention at the show!
I'll probably be there on Friday as I usually am and then run home to have my house open, of course moving the show closer to the first of the year might mean putting a big snow blade on my Spookmobile.
Maybe they are just trying to weed out the people who really don't have to be at the show, hoping the weather discourages them.
Feb. in northern Illinois??? Are you kidding?
we shall see?

I will be there!!!

We will also be open as usual....everyone needs a haunt midway throught the year...so we will be open for all to enjoy.

We were listed as the #1 haunt in Illinois this year again at www.hauntedillinois.com

Does anyone have any information about the seminar and workshop lineup? We're trying to work it into our budget for 4 of us to go. We figure this way we can cover more seminars/workshops. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

It's official! The 4 people who make Rayclif Manor possible will be attending TW! Lee Ostergren (partner and Secretary Treasurer), Mari Maya (partner and House Manager), Brad Karnes (Head of Construction & Security) and myslef will be attending! We've just submitted our room requests through the Globetrotter Service on the TW web site http://www.hauntshow.com/directions.shtml

We put in a request for rooms in the following order:

1st choice - Hyatt Regency O'Hare
2nd choice - Crown Plaza O'Hare
3rd choice - Sofitel
4th choice - Doubletree

I'll keep everyone posted on where we end up. I hope we made good choices! I'm looking forward to finding out where the hangout places are. I can't remember from 2005. I'm also looking forward to the updates on the TW site!

Was is just us or did anyone else dread the walk from the conv center to the Hyatt, those hallways sucked! It was like taking a stroll around Mercury, frigging hot! Several times I took the walk outside in the wind and rain to avoid it...maybe they have fixed it now

Jonathan
11-15-2006, 07:27 AM
The Halls were hot.

Its going to be a good time once again this year. I think the show will be bigger and better this year. Alot of stuff has been talked about and in the works.

Raycliff Manor
11-15-2006, 12:01 PM
Got our room confirmation and we are definitely going to be at the Hyatt! I guess we'll get to experience the hot halls. I don't like being cold, so I think I'll welcome the hot halls in the Chicago February weather. Who knows, maybe we'll luck out and have real nice weather. I hope it's not too bad, since we've decided to drive to Chicago! Just another page in the journey book!

and how many will be couped up in a vehicle for the 10 to 12 hour drive?

We learned last time 9 is WAY too many We may take two vehicles next time.

Raycliff Manor
11-15-2006, 12:11 PM
Ha! 9 people in one vehicle! That's one cozy drive unless you're driving a bus. We'll just have 4 of us in the car. Which reminds me, I need to check with the hotel regarding parking...

Kel

I bet if JoeDog was the chauffer for the nine Playboy Bunnies on the company's softball team it would be just the right number of bodies for a long ride.
Keep your eyes on the road!
I packed nine manniquins into a 79 T-Bird, of course their arms and legs and torsos disassembled somewhat to make this possible.
I took pictures, it loked strangely comical/gruesome?
Couldn't pass up the deal, only $25.00 each! Like new, low miles!

Joedog
11-15-2006, 06:57 PM
We had a 12 passenger van.
Never again.. 9 people have a varying musical taste or one gas attack the rest are uncomfortable for 10 to 15 miles.

Ill be there again. This year I will actually have a budget to work with to for buying some goodies. Not sure how many are coming from my haunt. Might be me + 3-5 others.....

Right now I have reservations at the Crown but I hear there might be a block of rooms for us Cheeseheads at another hotel. I guess Tatoo is working on that so I might end up jumping to a different place if I can. Don't forget, besides the hotel rate there is also the good old taxes and the daily parking rate too.

Just a quick question about Transworld (hey, trying to make this relevant to the topic! ;))
Anyways...my business partner and I want to try and make the show this year...so my question is:
If we haven't run our haunt YET (okay okay it's been delayed til 2007-not our fault) but are doing so next year...what do we need to get into the show?
I've seen the requirements "If you're an owner/operator..." and all that...we purchased 99% of our stuff from our local Lion's Club and have the receipts, etc.
Could someone shed some light on this? We are seriously considering going for our first time and experiencing Transworld finally!
Help!

If you want an easy way in just sign up as a home haunt, all you will need to send them is a flier of some kind. Easy enough to make. And I believe that your badge will not look any different from other haunt owners.
If you sign up as a owner/operator then you will need to send them a copy of your business license, resale license or tax exempt (non-profit) form.

Hope that helps...it is an experience.

C-ya there!

This year I may have to pass. My wife and I are expecting and the little one will be here in mid-late Feb. :)

If it's any earlier, there's still a chance. :) Of course, I have been a little disppointed in the show the past few years. My fav year has to be 98.

The rest of our crew will be there though. Look for the Haunted Hotel Tees. :)

Too much hassle, too much equiptment and things to forget, I think what you are really looking for (and much easier to sneak across state lines) is the witch's poison apple, otherwise known as the "date rape" fruit.
Yes it is unpredictable , you might not wake up for 4 hours (or possibly at all!)
Cross-breeding tomato and loco weed does unpredictable things.
Imagine waking up the next day at a seminar dressed in a Playboy Bunny outfit as the cameras flash capturing that "Kodak Moment" forever(and for the internet!)
Some fun!

Raycliff Manor
11-22-2006, 08:45 AM
So you're bringing the tomatoes Jim???

Kel

Jim Warfield
11-22-2006, 08:53 AM
180? years ago nobody would eat a tomato, they were called "The Devil's Cherrys" because of this nasty, unpredictable cross pollenation and the end results I mentioned.
I will be seeing the Friday Transworld, unless the weather is blizzard-like, then I stay home, if I am there Friday I hurry home to return in time to open my house, just like the other 365 nights of the year, pretty much.
Recently a member of Halloween Forum (another website) toured my house and wrote a long , accurate description of his experience here, look for "Gym whourlfelyd" or something like that? On that site , and it's me, my house.

So you all don't forget....DREAM REAPERS will be in full operation during Transworld.

We will be running buses and all the normal stuff.

We are thinking...and this is hard for us......

We always do the behind the scenes look....

Do people like the behind the scenes tour thing?
It is harder than hell doing them knowing that most people are getting trashed at the Crowne, and i am not one of them.

What about a look at what it takes to open the hell hole we call home?
Getting the house running....getting 70-80 actors in makeup....and whatever else...it would be very limited if we do it this way.

Please let us know what you think

Jim Warfield
11-29-2006, 08:15 PM
Is that so, Ms. Dracula?
I know. You were really aiming for the lips , missed and got a chunk of neck stuck between your teeth!
If "neck" is where you really want to be? It would be easier to go directly to neck instead of chomping your way there through the entire face!
(Who could consume all that and still think they get desert?)
Maybe I'll hang around outside and swap name tags with someone when they aren't paying attention, I'll stand next to the Playboy Bunnies, no guy would notice me swapping name tags there.

Empress, Have you really decided to make the show this year?

Dan Faupel
11-29-2006, 08:45 PM
Make sure everyone from here stops by the Creative Visions and the Haunt Visions (not sure which one I'm working in yet) booths to say hi...

Jim...make sure you come by and say hi this time, unlike last year when you slid in and out of there like the invisible man!.....ever seen that movie "Amazon women on the moon"?...that skit in there called Son of the Invisible Man.....that's Jim...he's insane and thinks he's invisible, running through the Transworld show floor naked playing pranks on people, while everyone plays along letting him think he's invisible, even though they can see him plain as day...hehehehehe...what a visual...

PS...I found a bottle of Mau Tai stashed in my bar from our last trip to China that I am now bringing among other foul things to the Crowne...I plan on smuggling in a mini bar...hehehe...I'm sure the people at the Crowne Plaza must love it when the haunters come in and take over the place for a week!...

You would go to those extremes to miss these lips? FOR SHAME!!! LOL!

Empress, Have you really decided to make the show this year? Well, I don't know Jim....would already booking my hotel and purchasing a roundtrip airline ticket put me in the category of deciding to make it to the show this year? I'll be sure to bring lots of chapstick.

Jim Warfield
11-29-2006, 10:41 PM
If they had to tie even Mau down to spill some it down his throat?

Empress, Bring very warm, wind-proof clothing, don't worry, they have a coat check right inside the door at Transworld, right next to the Lip Check!
Lipcheck? Was he a character on "Barney Miller?"

So what do I have to do besides run naked all around Transworld to get a laugh out of you guys? (A "laugh" is all I'm looking for!)
By the way, it was not me running naked at the ball a few years ago, bed sheet togas ain't my style. Besides those guys could run alot faster than I ever could, they ran faster than the video cameras could tape! (I just spoiled Empresses potential fun, it has been done before, running naked at Transworld!)
That may have been that Friday, March 13th under the full moon?
