View Full Version : Calling on Haunt Family Prayers, Thoughts & Positive Ene
11-17-2006, 07:03 AM
I'm waiting for a call to determine what time I can get my Mom admitted to the hospital in Fayetteville. A CT Scan revealed a large number of abnormalities on both of her lungs. She's only getting 57% oxygen right now. The doctor called last night and said he wants her admitted right away. His assistant is supposed to let us know this morning how soon we can admit her into the hospital. Please send out positive thoughts and healing energy in my Mom's direction. Her name is Shirley. Thanks!!!

Thanks guys! Ron, I've been meaning to tell you that I've been keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I know this year has been a tough one for you my friend and I hope you have been able to find comfort for the loss of your Dad. It's never easy no matter how much you think you are ready for it and you know it's coming. I think I may have posted this before, I've lost my Dad, my oldest Brother, my twin brother and a best friend. I've been blind-sided each time, even after I helped my twin brother pick out his casket, flowers, etc. There's something hard about saying good-bye to loved ones and knowing it'll be a long time passing before being able to be reunited. The good news is that with so many passed, we can be comforted in knowing they are in good company. I'm sending you a great big virtual hug Ron. You're an excellent guy and I know your Mom and Dad watch over you with great pleasure and tremendous pride!

Gee sounds all too familiar to me....
My Grandmother was checked in 2 weeks ago, for being dehydrated and some other minor issues...she is 87.
1 week later I get informed that you better get to the hospital.
Dehydrated my #%@ her kidneys are working at 40%.....her heart is surrounded by water, she has a leaky valve, stress tears in her heart.
She is slowly drowning........I visit and she seems like anyother 87 year old lady that isn't all there....she told me I was nuts for wanting to go to the bar then out to polka for a while (lol).
I had actually faced the fact that she wasn't going to be here much longer.
I got a call lastnight that they moved her to a regular room.....she was doing much better.
Something is a little strange but I am not going to question it.
May you have the same luck with your mom.

We are praying for you Kel! I just lost my grandmother Oct. 27th...so it was a more somber Halloween this year! May Shirley get well soon!
11-17-2006, 04:27 PM
Hope everything goes for the best Kel.
11-17-2006, 06:26 PM
I hope everything turns out for the best, Kelly.
My Dad suddenly died this last Oct.26th which is also my youngest son's birthday. He had just been to the hospital a few days earlier and they said everything was OK but his stroke was sudden and quick, he was 82 and he had a very good life for the majority of the time.
For years I would make mention during the house tour of the city graveyard out my west window and say, "Most of my relatives are buried there."
Now I think of my Dad every time I say that, he's up there.
He did promise to haunt my house for me though.......I'm waiting.....

I'm getting ready to head back over to the hospital. The surgery was postponed until today. A time hasn't been set yet, but I'm going to get to the hospital early so I can hang with Mom and keep her company. The doctors decided they wanted to bring in another specialist. They are going to go in through the ribs, deflate one of my Mom's lungs, cut and remove one of the nodules on her lungs while stapling the lung and then re-inflate the lung. My Mom just had a stint installed in one of her heart arteries 3 weeks ago because the artery was 80% blocked. Now the doctors are worried about blood loss and the possibility of her having a stroke or heart attack during today's procedure; however, they feel strongly that this surgery can't wait. They will run lab tests on the removed nodule and they expect to be able to determine what it is that's attacking her lungs within 72 hours at the outside. My poor Mom is so weak, frail and nervous. It kills me to see her have to go through this. Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers!

Continuous thoughts, prayers and good energy for you and your mom today, Kel.
Your family will be in my prayers. There's nothing but good energy coming from everyone, it's great to see what kind of a community this is. All the best for you and your mother

Wow, what a sad thread this is - but a thought provoking one, as well.
I lost my mom in 2003 when I was 34. She was 64 and left us far too early. It was devastating for our family and nothing will ever be the same in my life (especially the holidays). Still, I take comfort in knowing that I had a wonderful mother who was also a great friend. In the end, we are all only here a short while and we must be grateful for the time we had together.
Good luck, Kelly. My thoughts and wishes are with you and your family.

Keep us informed. Positive thoughts, you got it buddy.

The thoughts, positive energy and prayers have worked a miracle! Just got home from the hospital. Although the procedure was very hard on my Mom, the great news is that the nodules on here lungs are definitely NOT cancer!!! Her lungs are being attacked by a fungus, but the doctor says this is treatable and he suspects that the damage will be mostly reversible! I'm going to be meeting with the doctor again tomorrow when he has more time to explain, but I'm so grateful that my Mom does not have to battle cancer again! I have something so fantastic to be grateful for this Thanksgiving I should be able to bring Mom home from the hospital Thursday or Friday. Depending on how she's feeling, I may have her come stay at our house for a day or two while she heals from the surgery, but then she should be well on her way to recovery and improved breathing!Life is good and my Haunt Family is AWESOME! I really do appreciate all your thoughts, postive energy and prayers!!!

Great Kel....leave me in misery all by myself......
I have come to the conclusion that my Grandmother will not be going home, ever.
It is sad that when people get old we don't push for them the same as we would a 20 year old person. Yes I understand why, yes she has lived a long life......but is that a reason to let them slip away without a fight?
Sorry don't mean to drag anyone down

Ken, what is your Grandmother's name? I'll be sending positive thoughts, energy and prayers her way my friend. They'll be coming out to comfort you as well Ken...

Kel, that is wonderful news. I am happy to hear it!
Ken, I will focus some thoughts, prayers and good energy in your direction.

Wonderful news Kel! And great timing. I hope that you are able to spend the holiday together.
11-23-2006, 07:27 AM
Thanks for the thoughts!!!!.......She didn't make it to see Thanksgiving....well at least here that is.
Her Thanksgiving is being spent with my Grandfather who left her 29 years ago, and the rest of her friends that checked out before her.
Kind of selfish to want her back.....when you know she is happier where she is.
11-23-2006, 08:01 AM
We'll still be sending our thoughts and positive energy your way Ken. Praying for you to be comforted with the great memories you share of times spent with your Grandmother. May they sustain joy and peace in your heart and mind until the time comes to be reunited...
Take care of yourself my friend.

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother.
Our prayers are with you and your family. Hang on to those precious memories.

I need to ask everyone to please continue praying for my Mom's recovery. After the great news of her not having cancer, she's had some complications from the surgical procedure she underwent and other issues have arisen. Now she's having her gallbladder, liver, etc. tested. She's been unable to keep food down for 10 days now and her stomach has blown up. She's had a CT Scan on her stomach and the doctors are talking about running some additional tests, including another surgical procedure to go in and look at what's going on. She still hasn't been able to leave the hospital and she's gotten so weak that she can't even get out of bed and walk. It's killing me to see her suffering like this. Every day I expect her to suddenly show dramatic improvement and be able to leave the hospital, but now the doctors have informed me that they believe they have detected a tumor in her stomach when the did the CT Scan. They haven't even been able to begin treatment on her for the fungal infection that is attacking her lungs. Please continue to send positive thoughts, energy and prayers her way. Thanks!

Continued thoughts and prayers your way Kel...
Sorry to hear of your loss Ken...

Sorry to hear about the loss. Never easy to do esp. during the holidays. But keep positive that she is with others she loves now too.
Kel our prayers are staying strong.

Thanks guys! Mom is going in for a lower g.i. as we speak. I can't make the drive to the hospital because of the weather. It's been raining all night, the roads are all icing over and the forecast is calling for sleet and snow by noon. My Mom needa to be able to get her strength back. She ws trying to walk to the bathroom Tuesday night and passed out and fell to the floor. She really banged herself up and wound up with a goose egg sized lump on her head and split three of the four incisions open from her lung surgery. They had just removed the staples that day. I called two of Mom's doctors and spoke to the hospital dietition and they are going to finally start giving her nutritional supplements through her i.v. after 10 days of not having any food in her! I've also requested that they start bringing her Boost or Ensure drinks so she can try to keep that down and get some calories. It's so frustrating to have to make these kinds of suggestions and have them say, "oh, good idea". I won't start in on our health care system. I'm just thankful my Mom has insurance! Thanks for the continued positive light, energy, thoughts and prayers!

Sending all the good stuff your mom's way, Kel. Continuous prayers and good energy!
Sounds like you're having the same type of weather we've had here the last few days. What a mess - would've been better off ice skating to work than driving. Hopefully it'll clear up soon and you can go spend some time with your mom.

Thanks again everyone for your positive thoughts, energy and prayers! Mom was able to come home last night from the hospital. One of my brothers is here visiting and staying at her house until Sunday, so he's there to keep an eye on her. The doctors are still perplexed by what it is that is actually attacking her lungs and have her on a pill form of treatment. They plan to monitor her and check for improvements as a result of the treatment. She's on oxygen as well. She has four doctor appointments with 4 different doctors between now asn Christmas and then another appointment with yet another doctor in early January. The doctors believe that my Mom was infected with a form of histoplasmosis, yet they have been unable to grow a culture of the fungus nodule removed from her lung and they have been unable to identify the specific type. They say it appears to be different than the type they mormally see in patients with histoplasmosis. At any rate, I really do appreciate you all and continued thoughts and prayers for successful treatment is appreciated too!
