So after hearing for years that hearse's are such great promotional vehicles/advertising, we finally located one that we think we'll be happy with.

Neither of us are crazy about hearse's, and have turned down several opportunities, as no one really wanted to drive it. But I think this one may change our opinion.

I know there's gotta be some hearse enthusiasts on the boards here, who may have some suggestions on things we may do to her as we, tune her up and give her a facelift.

Love to hear some of your thoughts.

Thats a great one. Even if you only drive it to sit in front of the haunt that particular year/style is super haunt cred. To keep it creepy just leave it like it is, just treat what is obviously rotting, maybe a color change on the rear roof to black. Find an equally faded coffin and you are done.

When it no longer runs, pay to tow it to the front of the haunt or to be placed in a grave yard diplay. When you convert how much it costs vs how many hundreds of thousands it will entertained just seeing this thing. They totally don't make them anymore and that one is excellent as is!

I haven't been able to find one vintage like that hasn't been pushed sideways with a bull dozer. I've bought ones that have been ruined anyhow for props and drive a 1978 that still has only 74,000 original miles. I think it had 67,000 miles on it when I got it now 7 years ago. One more year and it's antique plate time and no more inspection stickers!

Congrats! Very nice car. If it runs good, leave it alone. If it doesn't swap in a fuel injected big block for the ultimate in reliability and fuel economy. I'm in the process of making mine a queue line entertaining audio light show. Would also recommend a disc brake and master cylinder upgrade. That is alot of car to be stopping

We used to have a 74 hearse but it was a bitch to keep up.. Great for promos and such. If she were mine I would let someone hot rod it up. Do a custom job to it and use the hell out of it. I love those fins....

Chris, you should contact The Denver Hearse Association. They are a good sized club and have a ton of resources dedicated specifically towards hearses. Take care, Mike

Stafford, we have a 67 miller meteor with 47,000 miles on it. We had a local body shop fix the body and repaint it black for a sponsorship. All we had to do was pay for materials. It looks great and we use it in every parade around Mid-Missouri that we can go to. You will also see it at every home football game Mizzou plays cruising the parkinglot of the tiger tailgates. We put a trailer hitch on it and pull the worlds largest casket with it. The casket has a hydraulic lid that goes up so the radio dj's and my crew can ride in it and pass out candy fearfest t-shirts and other merchandise in parades. It is a great promotional car and it gets ALOT of attention driving the streets of Columbia Mo. As far as yours I would get the white top painted black, fix any rust of dents. I noticed you didnt have all the hubcaps on it so I would get some wheels for it or if you can find a set of the real hubcaps they will work to. The next thing I would do is build a trailer with bars on it to make it look like a cell or padded cell that you could have your crew in since you are an asylum. Every once in a while they could escape from the cage and play with the crowd at a parade. DONT SCARE THE KIDS THOUGH! that will get you in trouble but acting crazy and playing off of that will get you noticed in the parades. Parades are great advertizers and usually they are free to enter. We go to everyone we can find. As far as bad things about having a hearse??? I cant think of a single one. Get the car clean and keep it that way. Just my opinion. Greg

We have 2 hearses that we use for promotions. 1 gets driven daily during the season (We also have one of our employees driving it at nightly downtown with the neons on to advertise), a '71 caddy, and the other ('51 Caddy) get used in parades and car shows.

..Wait, what?
NOT crazy about hearses?

Ok. I've now heard it *all* on Hauntworld.

Give this baby the chance to win your hearts. Looks like a good find!

Scaremaster, I want to hear the story behind that '51 - it looks more like a stretched out PT Cruiser! Tell us more!

Dusti,

Ok, not so much "not crazy about", I mean I think they're neat to look at. But, somebody has to drive these things around to get some advertising out of them, and I'm not too crazy about that idea.

Part of the reason we never bought one. Fortunately, we have several people chompin at the bit to drive her, so I'm probably off the hook.

Awesome looking 51. Do you have any type of audio in it for sound effects?

This is a pic of our 67 hearse. It hauls the worlds largest casket. The lid is hydraulic and we use it in parades all over Mid-Missouri. Come to the Columbia Haunt Tour and see it in person. Greg
