thin influences for the asylum designs were silent hill, and some asian horror. here are the straight jackets and the hallway wall textures I did for the asylum. I wanted to get the look of fifty years of peeling paint and abandonment. the walls are not finished, they still need graffiti and some more aging, these are just the hallways, the room walls will have more decorations.

sorry the pics are not great but the roof is not on the house yet (it is built under a structure but not in a building)
I think the asylum is going to be pretty scary this year.

Everything looks fantastic! Wonderful work!

But you gotta tell me... How'd you do your walls like that!?
They look freaking amazing!

Can't wait to see more!

In a five gallon bucket I mixed 1 gallon elmers glue, 1 gallon of latex paint (not the same as wall paint) and three gallons of water. I took big sheets of art paper (from a roll) and scrunched it and dipped it in the mix and slathered it to the black painted wall panel allowing the wrinkles and such to stay. After those dried I painted the wall a good asylum like color and then went back and started scraping and peeling back the paper to reveal the mix color on the backside of the peeled paper, and the wall panel color underneath. Over top of all that is a mix of water and paint that I just fling on, Its nice and watery so it gets into all the nooks and crannies. I also use it to darken the pastel paint I used on the walls as the main color.
There is a dread and forbodding that comes from being in an abandoned building and I want my guests to get that here.

O.O I am in awe. Great faux-work! There is one thing I just thought of, though:
How sturdy/secure/strong is the paper now that it's dry? If the "smart" guests come through, they may try to rip off the paper that isn't directly attached to the wall.

...I think that adds to the place. haha

and you could always replace it I assume.

I actually did not take it all the way I wanted, so Im counting on a few guests to "help". I also find that if you give them one thing to mess with they will destroy it but if you give them 50 things, they mostly leave things alone, I may go back and spray on a layer of polyurethane just to give some of it a "wet look" that will also stretch my lights a bit further.

xD Nice planning. That is an interesting philosophy...and it's true actually. I had never thought about it. But in general, that applies.

Looks awesome! Keep up the great work. I wish I lived closer to SCREAMS so I could come check it out this October. Sounds like the entire park is going to be insane this year!

They are really trying to step up their game , we started last year and are continuing to get better and better. More roaming actors, and more detail in the houses, even Jaded me is excited.

A lot of people might not know this but Allen was one of the main guys at Skull Kingdom in Orlando and was one of the first to come out desiging costumes for other haunts about 13 or 14 years ago we bought our first stilt costume from him and he came all the way from Fla to Del to demonstrat the costume and deliver it .
